Biography
Major advisors: Norman Wickett, PhD & Krissa Skogen, PhD
Research interests: plant secondary metabolism, volatile organic compounds, genomics, evolution, population genetics
My passion for research and science is driven by a desire to understand the evolution of plant chemistry, especially compounds involved in ecological interactions. I am interested in processes that shape this evolution at all levels, from sequences to enzyme structure, and from population genetics to phylogenomics. My graduate work combined these different scales by using chemical and genomic analyses to understand floral scent evolution and linalool production in Oenothera.
My graduate research was funded by the National Science Foundation, the American Society of Plant Taxonomists, the Society for the Study of Evolution, and the Colorado Native Plant Society.
