Current research: Building on my greenhouse experiment, where we seeded 40 different native species into Kentucky Bluegrass, I'm organizing an outdoor socioecological research project called Bees on the Block: a collective planting project. In collaboration with neighbors across four blocks in Evanston, we’re testing four approaches to replacing turfgrass with native plants in parkways and interviewing participants about their experiences and preferred approach. This work explores pathways for engaging neighbors in planting to foster collective environmental stewardship in urban landscapes.
